When you see a band from, say, the 80s, you wonder ahead of time if they will sound the same as you remember. We're all getting older every day we live and breathe, and our musical heroes are no exception. I've already touched on this regarding Barry Manilow.
But what I have found is that these bands can still put on a high-caliber show and deliver the goods like they never stopped. Some of them haven't.
Simple Minds not only sounded exactly like I hoped they would, but the set design and graphics were impeccable. This was a bonus to the already fantastic audible experience.
Jim Kerr has retained his vocal abilities and was extremely gracious during the performance. At the end of the show, he said, "We don't want to go. Can we play you another song?" The roaring applause of appreciation is all they needed to hear.
And by the way, their drummer, Cherisse Osei is a force of nature. She put on a solid performance and did a solo that rocked the house!
If you get a chance to catch the Alive & Kicking 2025 tour, don't walk, but run to the box office!
